The Filipino Social Club in Dubai (FilSoC) is set to undergo a major transformation with the implementation of a new democratic election process for its leadership.

Previously, the organization's Board of directors were selected rather than elected, specifically chosen from past chair and vice chair of the past PID and Bayanihan events. However, the Community Development Authority (CDA) has now granted FilSoC permission to hold democratic elections, giving the general membership the opportunity to choose their leaders.

This change has been met with excitement from FilSoC members, who have long been calling for a more democratic and transparent leadership structure. In recent years, there have been concerns about the lack of team works and sweetness within the Board of Directors, as well as a perceived lack of responsiveness to the needs of the general membership.

The transition to an election-based system is seen as a way to address these concerns and ensure that the leaders of FilSoC are truly representative of the interests of the community. It is also hoped that the new system will lead to smoother operations and a more cohesive and united community.

The upcoming elections will be crucial for the future of FilSoC. The newly elected officers will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the organization and set the tone for the next two years. It is important that they are individuals who are committed to transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of the community.

The election was held on July 8 to 12, 2023. All FilSoC members are eligible to vote. Results will be announced by CDA during the membership assembly on 30th of July 2023.
