Boodle Fight @ Little Manila Restaurant

Boodle fight is a Philippine military tradition that you should try with your family and friends. The mechanics are simple – hot and fresh food is placed in a long table on top of banana leaves and your mission is to try to eat as much of it as you can using only your bare hands. Once the table is set, all you need to do is wash your hands, stand on side of the table and when the signal to start eating is given, everyone begins to battle it out.

My Family's Simple New Year's Celebration

My Family's Simple New Year's Celebration
New Year's Eve is normally celebrated at evening parties, where many people dance, eat, drink, and watch or light fireworks with family. The celebrations generally go on past midnight into New Year's Day, 1 January, however for me being in the media industry, we normally work during New year's eve and this year I was at the Rixos The palm Hotel covering their NYE Party.

One tradition Filipinos have for welcoming the New Year is serving 12 circular fruits on the table. The practice is believed to attract good luck and fortune for the new year. The fruits are also believed to welcome prosperity into the home. The round shape of the fruits symbolizes coins or money; thus, having these fruits on New Year's Eve is a sign of prosperity and abundance for the household. And the number 12 represents each month in a year.
